The term ‘heuristic’ refers to a set of recognised standard criteria for usability (heuristics), against which your site will be assessed.
The evaluation includes a short telephone consultation to establish your target audience, message and the image your site is to convey.
A usability specialist will then inspect your site against the heuristic criteria and your established aims.
Findings are provided in a report which includes an overview of the effectiveness of the site aligned to your aims, followed by identification of key problem points identified in the 10 heuristic categories. Each problem will have a criticality score, supporting information and a suggested rectification approach.

b) COMPETITOR COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENTS
Many businesses find this a particularly valuable option to assess and counter the threats presented by competing organisations.
As the name suggests, in addition to a heuristic evaluation your own site we will provide a comparative review with two rival sites of your choice. The competitor site evaluations will not have the detailed heuristic content or recommendations for improvement, but instead will focus on the areas of impact and impression, suitability to identified markets, ease of use, purchase completion etc.
We will highlight strengths and perceived advantages of the rival sites to reflect areas which you may wish to develop in your own web presence, or for you to target for exploitation in your market strategy.

The very best way to assess user response to your site, is to work with real users from your target market. We can perform user observations of a sample set of users from your client grouping. You may provide a sample of volunteers from your own client base, or they can be obtained through a market research organisation.
This is naturally the most informative evaluation, examining and discussing with the users, their perceptions and actual experience of interacting with your site. It also provides both qualitative and quantitative data and insight.
